About the Island Woodturners Guild
We are a non-profit organization dedicated to the advancement of woodturning. Our mission is to provide information, education, organization and assistance for those interested in turning wood. We do this through a variety of activities including:
Monthly meetings (Sept – June)
These take place on the fourth Saturday of the month from 1:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. at the Central Saanich Senior Citizens Centre in Brentwood Bay. These provide an opportunity to share information and advice with other turners and feature live-demonstrations on skills, technique, and a range of projects by Guild members, guest turners from other Guilds and professional turners. The meetings also feature a raffle for wood, tools and supplies as well as a Show and Tell which provides an opportunity to show your work in a supportive environment. (Meetings can also be viewed live on Teams.)
Monthly Newsletters
Members receive an electronic newsletter every month which contains information and advice on a wide range of turning issues. Members can also access previous newsletters dating back to 2010.
Mentoring
Senior members of the Guild are available to provide information and free instruction for beginners and more experienced turners.

Our Meetings
Our meetings are usually held on the fourth Saturday of every month except July and August, and normally run from 1:00 to 4:00 pm. However, when we have a guest demonstration, we usually have an all-day session running from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm. At times we will shift the meeting a week earlier or later to accommodate a visiting demonstrator, so make sure you check the General Meeting dates on the Calendar page for the exact date.
Our Location
We are located at the Central Saanich Seniors Citizen Centre, 1229 Clarke Road, Brentwood Bay, B.C, V8M 1E2.
